EOTD: Skittles & Artwork

Heyyyo~ Today I was mostly working on my art projects so I thought I'd like to share some of them with you. :)

This was supposed to be a 3-piece project where we introduce an anomoly using our hometown map as the background and adding in a scanned personal item [Juicy Pendant], our handwriting, & three other images relating to our "represented self". I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 but I'm hoping to get the CS4 soon. ;] But it's so expensive for an upgrade and I wish my university sponsored a class set but with the copyright infringement laws and whatnot it's nearly impossible to do so.

And finally here's my rainbow/skittles look... I used yellow, salmon, purple, and green from the Coastal Scents 88 Palette.

Eyes
- 88 Coastal Scents Shimmer Palette
- MAC Fluidline [Blacktrack]
- L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara [Black Noir]

EOTD: Rainbow Fish

Hey ladies!! I've finally received my Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Eye Shadow Palette in the mail so I'll be able to update my blog now with tons of pictures. :] I'll do a product review on it later on in the future... I think I've done enough product reviews so far. LOL.

So Christy suggested that I get off my lazy butt and do a rainbow look for once. Usually I stick to a completely natural and neutral look and I rarely ever go near eye-popping colors. So since I was still a bit hesitant to try some of the bolder colors such as green and yellow, I stuck to the pinks and purples. I drew my inspiration from the Rainbow Fish... I don't know if you ladies remember that children's book? I used to loveee that book!! Hehe... well I mostly stuck to the silver, pink, and purples of the fish so here's the look~

Product Review: Skinfood Aloe BB Cream [Shade #2]

This is the second BB cream that I've tried so far and I like this one a lot better than the Shills BB cream. There's only two shades available and I got Shade #2 which is a better match for my tan skin tone. It's a bit runny but blends in better with my concealer and foundation. It has a strong soapy smell which I didn't mind at first but it really gets to you after a while though. It has SPF 20 which a plus because I can wear it during the summer and overall, since it contains properties of Aloe, it should help with my acne and keeping my blemishes at bay.

As you can see, the Shills BB cream is a lot more yellow while the Skinfood is more beige-ish and is a better match for me. However if you are really pale, I'd go for the Shills but both are really good BB creams in my opinion.

And here's a picture of me wearing the Skinfood Aloe BB cream.

Description
Rich with aloe, which possesses excellent hydrating properties and soothing effect, this multi-functional skin care product [UV protector & blemish corrector] provides moisture and nutrition to your skin while providing protection from UV rays.

Pro's
- blends well
- good coverage
- little goes a long way
- SPF 20 coverage!! :)

Con's
- strong soapy smell
- limited color range [2 options]

Product Review: L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara

Since my last mascara sort of pulled an epic fail on me, I decided to purchase the L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara after hearing some great reviews about it and how pretty much it's a "holy grail" to some of you ladies. I got it in [Blackest Black] and I thought it was pretty cool how it was shaped exactly like a telescope!! When I first bought it, I didn't think it would do a lot because of the shape of the brush; most of my brush bristles are long and round. The brush is reallyyyy tiny compared to other mascaras and I was like "Wtf?" when I saw it. But to my surprise, it separated and lengthened my eyelashes like crazy!! I think I found a new favorite. :) I like it a lot better than all of my past mascaras so I would definitely recommend this baby to you ladies who want sexy lashes!!

Description
In a stroke, the Flexible Precision Brush lengthens lashes up to 60%. Ophthalmologist and allergy tested. Removes easily with soap and water. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. Fragrance free.

Without any eye make-up at all...

After applying MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack and the L'Oreal Telescopic mascara. Doesn't it make a big difference?

And here's a different view so you ladies can see it a bit better. :)

Pro's
- lengthens like crazy!!
- separates each lash
- doesn't clump
- doesn't make me tear up or irritate my eye

Con's
- NONE!! :D

Product Review: Revlon Under Eye & Blemish Concealer

Hey ladies, I know it's been a while since I've updated anything but I've been sick lately with the changing of the weather and just trying to keep up with my insane schoolwork. ,:/ But since today was absolutely gorgeous, I decided to make a run to CVS to buy some stuff. And since I've been looking like a hot mess lately with my weird sleeping schedule, I got some Revlon products for the first time ever. Tomorrow I'll add my comparison pictures for my Shills Super Magic BB Cream and another review for the Loreal Telescopic Mascara. :)

Revlon Under Eye Concealer [Light/Medium]

Description
Gently conceals dark circles and discolorations for up to 16 hours with natural-looking coverage. Wears all day without rubbing off and won't crease or emphasize fine lines. Oil-free. Non-pore clogging.

It took me foreverrrr to actually get the concealer to come out. After about ten turns, I seriously thought it was broken.

I have more bags under my eyes than the local supermarket. LOL, that was really corny. Sorryyy. xP

Dabbed a bit of it on and then blended it gently using my index finger. Apply more if necessary.

All finished!! It looks a lot better now, yes?

Pro's
- creamy, easy to blend
- decent coverage
- light-weight
- smudge-proof
- buildable coverage

Con's
- still can see a tint of shadow underneath
- takes forever to actually get the concealer to get out at first

Overall, I actually am satisfied with my first under-eye concealer. It looks a bit better and I don't look like a zombie anymore.

Revlon Blemish Concealer [Medium]

Description
Exclusive Colorstays formula with an active blemish fighter combines superior coverage with healing benefits. 0.5% Salicylic Acid. Helps clear and fight blemishes.

Here you can see all of my blemishes and redness. Acne is definitely not fun. :( Stupid hormones.

You can still see a little but for the most part my blemishes have been covered up.

Pro's
- decent coverage
- blends well
- skin tone match

Con's
- emphasizes dry patches
- a bit cakey

Here's a picture of me with both concealers on... I'm not quite sure if it actually helps clear up blemishes but I'll keep you ladies posted. My skin is really oily and since the weather is really dry and cold, my skin has taken a beating to the harsh cold winds even though I've put on moisturizer. But overall, I'm happy with the results for now. :)

Product Review: Shills Super Magic BB Cream [Cherry Blossom Edition]

After reading all about the rage on BB Creams, I caved in and decided to buy one for myself and test it out. I bought the Shills BB Cream [Cherry Blossom Edition] on Ebay and it just arrived in the most adorable package earlier this week! It definitely works as a skin whitener because it made my skin ghostly pale! I grabbed my MAC NC40 and blended it in but in pictures, you could definitely tell a difference in skin tone. :( But all in all, it definitely had decent coverage on my red blemishes and had pretty good oil control throughout the day. What I also love is the fact that a little goes a long way! I only used a pea-size and it still was a bit too much! But if I had the chance, I would take up on Pink's advice and go for the Legere White Multi BB Cream which she said was better suited for darker skin tones.

Description
The Shills Super Magic BB Cream [Cherry Blossom Edition] is a 50mL tube described as a 6-in-1 BB cream. It acts as a UV protector, skin whitener, oil control, moisturizer, concealer, and make-up base all in one. Its ingredients mainly comprise of ginkgo extracts, green tea, licorice, Vitamin C, and whitening agents to brighten and beautify your skin.

Pro's
- buildable coverage
- light-weight
- lasts long
- glowing and natural appearance
- a little goes a long way!

Con's
- limited color range
- hard to blend
- ghost effect on camera

n00b!!1

Hello there!! My name's Sophie and I'm relatively new to the make-up scene. Thanks to my bestie Christy, she filled me in on some stuff when I went to visit her last summer in Hawaii <3.

Some tidbits about me.. I'm currently a starving artist student attending Syracuse University. I'm majoring in Fashion Design right now but I'm considering switching into Art Education. :P I'm also lactose intolerant and a pesce-vegetarian!! Meaning I only eat fish... but even then, I rarely eat fish outside of sushi.

So my blog will be a hot mess of make-up, food, art, & random events going on in my life so sorry in advance if you guys read something and think, "WTF? :O"

Sadly, Syracuse is a barren wasteland full of only snow and alcohol. :/ No Sephora... no good Asian food places... and definitely no clothing stores worth shopping at. Soooo... anyway, here are some of the things I plan on purchasing when I head up to NYC sometime in April.

- NARS Blush [Super Orgasm] $25.00
- NARS Lipstick [Sexual Healing] $24.00
- MUFE HD Foundation [Golden Honey] $40.00
- Yves Saint Laurent Shimmering Lip Gloss [Golden Peony] $28.00
- Hanae Mori Butterfly Perfume $65.00
